Hello.
Welcome to Colour Club Cornwall
My name is Mel Johnstone, as a mum of three, I know how important creative play is for everyone, my favourite past time with my children is to set up an art project and watch their imaginations thrive, it is a time when I also find myself being fully present and engaged.
I am a qualified Secondary Art & Design teacher and have been running my own freelance graphic design business “Melonmade” for eight years. I teach Art & Design to 13–16-year-olds with the National Saturday Club at Falmouth University – a role I absolutely love and it is here I work with home-educated students and neurodivergent learners, offering creative experiences that are flexible, inclusive, and supportive.
Colour Club Cornwall is about more than just making art — it’s about building a creative, welcoming community.
I run pop-up workshops across the North Coast of Cornwall in various locations and am excited to be working with Alma Art Space, running sessions in their beautiful new studio — a space that shares our values of inclusivity, imagination, and connection through creativity.
Our studio sessions offer a drop-and-go option, giving parents that much-needed time to run errands or simply enjoy a quiet moment. We often find that young people thrive with the independence these sessions provide.
We offer birthday party and celebration workshops — join us in our studio or let us bring the creativity to your chosen location.
I am first aid trained and DBS checked, so you can feel confident your child is safe, supported, and free to get wonderfully creative.
Take a look at the workshops that are currently available to book and lets make something colourful together!
